Abstract
H. Roger Grant introduces a presentation on several topics that make up the greater railroad experience in the western reserve throughout the 19th and 20th centuries: The “Demonstration Period” of the 1830s and 1840s, the Post-Civil War “system building” era, the “Interurban era” of the early 20th century, the Alleghany Corporation during the 1920s and 1930s, the “Merger Madness” of the 1960s, and more.
