Abstract

This paper reports on the methods used and results obtained in the evaluation of the feasibility of a faculty research profile information system. The study is based on a previous study which established the flow of administrative and background information during the various stages of the research process.* A methodology for use in the conduct of this study is developed, along with questionnaires and interviewing procedures. Statistical tests are developed and applied to determine the specific reasons for information processing improvements. Alternative systems for accomplishing information requirement goals are proposed and evaluated using cost and benefit criteria. A sequential strategy for developing a computer-based research information system is constructed.
