Abstract
This report presents findings from surveys conducted by the Obstetrical Anesthesia Manpower Planning study, Case Western Reserve University, and the Cleveland Committee on Anesthesiology. The study focused on obstetric anesthesia practices in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, exploring current practices, administrative perceptions of anesthesiologists' assistants, and attitudes of anesthesiologists, obstetricians, and nurse anesthetists regarding their roles in obstetrics. Questionnaires were sent to hospital administrators and anesthesiology department directors at 20 hospitals, gathering insights into professional employability and involvement. Due to a small sample size, nurse anesthetist data was excluded. Responses are analyzed by audience group across four chapters, with a final chapter correlating results. An appendix compares the findings to a national survey by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
