Abstract

Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) is a type of wireless sensor network (WSN) that can be used in applications related to the field of health. Wireless body area networks monitor their vital signs by attaching sensors to their bodies and transmitting them to a base station. One of the major challenges of the wireless sensor network is packet routing, which can save energy and reduce network life. This requires accurate and efficient routing of packets to reduce energy consumption in wireless body area networks and increase the lifetime of the network. In this study, a new method of routing in wireless body area networks has been introduced using a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm that attempts to optimize packet transmission paths and thus reduce energy consumption. The results of the implementation show that the energy consumption of the proposed method is more optimal than methods such as the genetic algorithm, firefly algorithm, and bat algorithm.
