Abstract
Production management refers to the functions production planning and factory/shop floor control. There are a number of production management problems that are amenable to operations research techniques. The most popular of these are assembly line balancing, inventory control, and scheduling. This paper deals with some of the shop floor control problems which occur in a flexible manufacturing system for automated metal removal.
