Abstract

We present some simple mathematical models for solving the problems of hatching and configuring the tool magazines of flexible manufacturing systems. Parts are hatched in an FMS to join different queues before they are introduced to the shop floor. The FMS is configured for each queue and there is a switch-over involved.
