Abstract
This paper discusses the countertrade transaction in general enough terms to subsume all of its known formats. It presents a general model for evaluating transactions under each of the various forms of countertrade and a schema for classifying same. Both the model and the taxonomy encompass transactions ranging from pure barter to free trade.
