Abstract
At the beginning of the '70s, a number of studies were commissioned to project the production of Ph.D.'s during that decade. This paper summarizes the underlying assumptions, data, and methodologies used by each of the studies and compares the resulting forecasts to the actual outcomes. Lastly, a retrospective analysis of the above offers some insights for future long range manpower forecasters. [Likely published circa 1984-1985.]
